Throughout history, men and women looked for something on which they could rest the set of ideas they try to support. During the industrial revolution, human race became more mechanical, and that lead to an exacerbated ambition in order obtain more profits and benefits and not taking care of the important part of this huge machinery; the people.
The nation choose (its supposed democratically) what they want, and through time some ideologies came to front, capitalism, communism and fascism were some of the most highlighted topics and trends during the XX century. Some nations wanted to grow, independently and economically under the enterprises, others wanted that the state should give them health, food, shelter, education. In some places it worked and other did not. The cradle of communism, Russia, now is another capitalistic country and this points, brings up some questions.
Does ideologies prevail? Do they last in time?.
First of all, and I think is the only answer, ideologies prevails in countries which the culture they have is ancient, and the citizens were born and raised under that specific system.
Cuba, a beacon on the world for those who believe the state will give everything and will let you do whatever you want. Cuban doctors are some of the most respected in the world, of course those who work in the area, but many of them are taxi drivers.
Capitalism is not away from this tendency. The most powerful nation, USA, is living one the most important financial crisis since the ’30s, and this happened because the state bought more than they could afford (and pay). The international debt of the States led to the congress to reduce the budget of others secretaries in order to pay some of this enormous debt. The capitalistic nation is fall down.
Finally, I give this open question. Is it possible to live in a world, in which ideologies are obsolete?
